About Something Worth Waiting For

Letters should feel like letters

Something Worth Waiting For brings some of the ceremony and anticipation of traditional correspondence to the digital world.

You write your letter online using a selection of typewriter styles. We set it on carefully chosen period-inspired paper and prepare it as a finished digital letter. It is then delivered to its recipient after a realistic postal delay based on the distance it must appear to travel.

There is no instant notification and no impatient trail of typing dots. The letter arrives when it arrives.

Why we created it

Modern communication is extraordinarily convenient, but convenience has changed the way we write. Messages are composed quickly, delivered immediately and often forgotten just as fast.

A letter asks for something different. It encourages us to slow down, choose our words and write with a particular person in mind. Waiting for its arrival gives those words a little more weight.

Something Worth Waiting For was created for personal letters, thoughtful messages, romantic correspondence, invitations, confessions, congratulations and anything else that deserves more consideration than an ordinary email.

Old character, modern convenience

Something Worth Waiting For recreates the visual character of typewritten correspondence without requiring a typewriter, a ribbon, a supply of paper or an obliging postal clerk.

You can choose how your letter looks, preview it before sending and select its apparent place of origin. Its estimated journey is then calculated and the letter is held until its appointed delivery date.

The result is delivered digitally, but it carries the appearance and sense of occasion of something that has travelled much farther.

Thoughtfully delayed

The delay is not an inconvenience added to the service. It is part of the service.

Knowing that a letter cannot be amended once sent—and that only a Premium first-class letter can be recalled while it is still in transit—changes how it is written. The delay creates anticipation for the recipient and makes the eventual arrival feel like an event.

Some things are worth waiting for.

Correspondence with character

Something Worth Waiting For is not intended to replace email or messaging. It is for the occasions when those things feel too immediate, too ordinary or simply too easy.

Write carefully. Send deliberately. Let the letter make its journey.
