Frequently asked questions
Are my drafts saved if I refresh the page?
Yes. Your current letter and its choices are saved locally in your browser while you type and restored after an accidental refresh. Premium members can keep and switch between several local drafts. Drafts do not follow you to another device, and clearing browser data may remove them. Successfully sending a letter clears its active draft.
Can a recipient download a letter as a PDF?
Yes, when the sender is a Premium member and enables PDF downloads for that letter. After delivery, the recipient can choose a print-friendly PDF or one that preserves the selected paper colour and typewriter style. PDFs are made when requested rather than kept as permanent stored files.
Can I cancel a letter after posting it?
Premium members may cancel a letter while it is still in transit. Once a letter has been delivered it can no longer be recalled or amended, preserving the deliberate character of correspondence.
Can I change the desk, paper and typewriter?
Yes. Paper and typewriter choices are available while composing and are remembered for your next letter. Your desktop can be changed from the writing desk or account settings, and the Desktop gallery lets you inspect the full collection. Desks marked Premium are reserved for Premium members.
Can I send a postcard instead of a letter?
Yes. Choose Postcard for a short note, or select A4 or US Letter for longer correspondence. The writing surface changes to reflect the selected format.
Does the recipient need a Something Worth Waiting For account?
Recipients are notified using the email address on the letter. To open sealed correspondence at their writing desk, they should create or use a Something Worth Waiting For account with that same email address.
How does letter delivery work?
Something Worth Waiting For gives each letter a believable postal journey measured in working days. Standard letters travel by simulated second class. Premium members can choose next-working-day first class. Your writing desk shows when a posted letter is expected to arrive.
How many letters can I send?
Standard accounts may send up to 2 letters to one recipient and 20 letters in total each day. Premium accounts may send up to 10 letters to one recipient and 100 letters in total each day. These limits protect recipients and help keep the service dependable.
What is included with Premium?
Premium includes several private drafts on one device, next-working-day first-class delivery, cancellation while a letter is in transit, recipient PDF downloads, Premium writing desks, and higher daily sending allowances.
Who can read my letters?
A sealed letter is intended only for its sender and named recipient. You can instead choose a secure sharing link, which may be opened after delivery by anyone who receives its difficult-to-guess address. Choose sealed correspondence when privacy matters most.
Why can’t I hear the typewriter sounds?
Check that typewriter sounds are enabled beneath the writing area and that your device media volume is audible. On a phone or tablet, tap inside the writing area once before typing because mobile browsers require a direct touch before playing sound. Silent mode or browser audio restrictions may also suppress it.
Why this and why now?
Because sometimes the world needs to slow down, and sometimes we realise that part of the joy of something is the waiting.
